Le Cordon Bleu Online Bachelor's Degree... SUCESS!!!

As a busy mom, when I decided I wanted to go back to school to get my bachelor's degree I decided to opt for online schooling. I previously graduated from the Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, so naturally I opted to continue my education through their online bachelor's degree program. Tomorrow is my LAST day of the 15-month accelerated program. On Friday, I will graduate with honors and my bachelor's degree! HOOORRRAYYYY!

Online schooling is not for the faint of heart, especially not an accelerated program. You really get what you put into it. Some of the teachers are great, and some are flops. By taking on the 15-month program I tasked myself with 3 classes every 6 weeks. Each week I had to complete 1 Discussion Forum, 2 responses to classmates' forum discussions, and an individual or group project. When you multiply that by 3 and add a husband and kids into the mix, it makes for some very late nights. However, it is completely doable. I am graduating with around a 3.6 GPA.

I must say though the biggest downfall for this program is that it is EXPENSIVE! It is going to take me some time to pay back my school loans.

However, I really love that this program takes all previous schooling into account, and that the Associate's Degree I earned at LCB Austin allowed me to partake in the Bachelor's program. I also loved that the CAPSTONE Course replaces an internship for this program (an internship would be difficult with online schooling). The CAPSTONE Course is a six week course in which you use everything you have learned over the past year to create a working business plan. That is a 20-30 page document, for those of you who do not know. While that seems like a daunting task, it really wasn't. I had a fabulous professor, and each week we worked on a portion of the final assignment. Listening to the online chats was a definite must for this course because he walked us through the ins and outs of each section. I am now armed with a business plan for a business I actually want to pursue, and a plethora of business knowledge.

The Le Cordon Bleu Online Bachelor's Degree Program has been an amazing experience, and I am so excited for what furthering my education will help me to accomplish. Thank you, Le Cordon Bleu.

A BRIEF introduction

I am originally from a much bigger city near Houston, but I fell in love and married a country boy. I moved to a small town that boasts a Walmart, a small movie theatre, and a "mall" that has a handful of stores in it. I live with my husband and two boys out in the country on over a hundred acres. We have a few goats and three dogs. We live just down the road from my in-laws, which is nice and not all at the same time.

About me:

I am a formally trained chef, and I graduated with high honors from Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, TX.
I am in the last week of finishing my bachelor's degree in Culinary Management from Le Cordon Bleu, which is an online college.
My sons are 5 and 1.5. Having boys is a blast.
I was born and raised in Texas.
I love being a mother, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
I am still breastfeeding my youngest.
